Irving Hildebrandt, who had the combination book at Juarez for sevpral seasons, is convaleseipg from a serious attack of illness at El Paso. H. Omar Khayyam, Marion Goosby, For Fair and several other good handicap horses are being taken along slowly in their preparation for the New Orleans racing. Sam Eddy, a New Orleans man, will succeed Charles AValtering in the management of the palm garden at the Fair Grounds, with Ben Holmes as his assistant. Typhoon, which pulled up lame after Tuesday mornings workout at the Fair Grounds, was out AAednesday and ran a mile with Yenghee in apparently sound shape. The stables of Mose Goldblatt and Will Perkins at New Orleans seem to have the edge on other strings for condition. All of Jefferson Livingstons horses, which are being trained by Goldblatt, are in prime shape, and probably will be seen in many races during the first week. "Tip" Mclntyre, an old-time jockey who rode a great number of races at the St. Louis Fair Grounds, East St. Louis and Madison race tracks, was buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery, near East St. Louis, last Friday, December 29. Pat Stanton, for whom "Tip" used to ride, was one of the pall bearers. Jockey Frankie Stevens seems to have been hurt worse than was at first thought, when Sultana stumbled in the third race at Tijuana, December 21. The boy was hurled violently on, his head and was picked up unconscious. Although physicians, who examined him following his return to consciousness, pronounced his injuries not serious, he has been absent from the jockey list since the accident. It was the first accident of the season at Tijuana.
