NOTES OF THE TURF FROM OTHER LANDS. During some recent heavy weather, and while en route to India, Canterbury Belle, a beautifully-bred daughter of Chaucer — Glasalt. purchased by Mr. C. Hailey from Sir Ernest Cassel for a large sum, w is washed overboard. F. Darling, the Beckhampton trainer, who had twice received exemption from his local tribunal, has not appealed again, but reported for military service, lie will probably go into the Officers Training Cavalry Corps at Netheravon. L. Cundell. the Compton trainer, joins the remounts at the end of the year. While he is in the army his horses, some thirty in number, will he cared for by Dodds, who lode and trained with success in France and Belgium before the war.
