WORK OF CRACKS NOW AT CHARLESTON. Charleston. N. PL, March 20. — Trainer J. Edwards leaves for Bowie. March 25. with a string of sov-n-teen horses belonging to Henry Watterson of New York. Kunes will head the string. Ex -jockey McDaniel leaves for Bowie with a string of sixteen on the same date, the proiierty of Grant Hugh Browne. Work-outs at Palmetto Park are slow on account of the deep sandy track, which has not yet become firm enough for fast work. The track here is about three seconds slow and a horse working out a half mile in 50 should go the same distance in 48 on any other track Trainer Burch worked all the Sanford two-yenr-ohls from the barrier, a quarter mile in 27. Other work outs wen: Believe Me Boys — Half mile in 54. Blind Baggage — Half mile in 54. Boots — Three-quarters in 1:18. Dodge — Seven-eighths in 1:35. Dick Williams — Three-quarters in 1:20. Ed Crump — Three-quarters in 1:18. George Smith — Three-quarters in 1:20. Hank ODay — Three-quarters in 1:20. J. C. Stom — Five-eighths in 1:00. Star Hawk — Seven-eighths in 1:35. Sunbonnet — Five-eighths in 1:00. The Cock— Five-eighths in 1:00. E. It. Bradleys two-year-olds, trained by Cliff Hamnion. made the following times on Thursday: Bar One — Three-eighths in 38. Jockey Frank Robinson has been laid up with a old since his arrival from New Orleans. His illness is not considered serious, however. Ed Trotters stable will go to Havre de Grace within a few days for the meeting there, which opens on the fifteenth of April. Some of the work-outs reported from the Trotter string are as follows: A. Pomps time for the half mile is the best made here this spring. Trainer McDaniel has never seen eight as fast two .war-olds, so he claims, as some in the Graat Hugh Browne band, and expects them to accoinplisli mu.h at Bowie. They have been well schooled at the barrier and are ready for all coiners. Joe Edwards, trainer for Henry Watterson of New York, reports Bunes made the half-mile distance, cantering, in 55. Trainer Mel. mi. I. who has lhaiae t the three-yc.r-old. King Herod, valued at tlS.810, had him work-out the five-eighths distance in 1:00 Friday.
