OMAR KHAYYAM WELL ENGAGED. Kentuchy Derby Winner Will Meet Campfire and Hourless in the Withers Stakes. New York. May M. — Now that Omar Khayyam has scored such a notable victory as the Kentucky Paray, it is of interest to know of his engagements in the east. Trainer Patterson knew when be picked him out at the Newmarket sale that he was a good one and with that firm conviction, the son of Marco was nominated fop many of the prizes to lie decided over* the Kong island tracks and at Saratoga. One of his first engagements will be in the Withers Stakes, the mile test for three -year-olds. He will not have to take up any penalty for his victory in the Derby and of the colts that he lieat in his race Saturday, ho will meet Ticket, Kickcty, Star Master and Skeptic, hast he will also meet August Belmonts Hourlcss and Richard T. Wilsons Campfire, a pair that stood out over the two-!yeur-olds of last season. Both of these sterling colts were not named for the Kentucky Derby, but they have been named for all of the big three-year-old fixtures in the east. .is well as having been made eligible for some of the handicaps for older horses. Omar Khayyam is also in the Brooklyn Derby and the Huron Handicap at Saratoga, another three -year-old fixture. He was not named for the Belmont, though it would seem, from his race in the Kentucky Derby, that the mile and three -eighths of that historic race would be to his liking. In addition to these engagements Omar Khayyam is named in the Brooklyn Handicap, Brookdale Handicap, Saratoga Cup and the Merchants and Citizens Handicap. This is a busy campaign and if he fills one half of his engagements, he can well afford to do without the Belmont.
