THREE-DAY MEETING AT WILMINGTON. May Bo Foundation of Racing on a Large and Pretentious Scale in Delaware. By Ed Case. New York. May 10. — The initial race meeting of tlu- Wilmington Horse Show Association, which will lie held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, may be the foundation of racing in Delaware on a large and pretentious scale. There are men of exceeding influence connected with the Wilmington Horse Shew Association, including William Du Pont. James P. Wis* heater, Joseph H. Heeaaager, L. Scott Town-send and Edmund P. Moody. With such men BBBC-tioning five races each day of the show, there is every reason to believe the enthusiasm will grow, especially if the sport is acknowledged acceptable by horse show patrons, of which there is Utile doubt under the superintendence of able officials like Henry J. Morris. Algernon Daingerfield and their several associates. Luke A. Cassidy, who has had charge of arrangements for the meeting, will act as secretary and has prepared everything for a most successful meeting. S veral fashionable stables have signified intentions to enter horses. No purse of less than 8998 will be offered and most of the conditions call for platers from the "top had bottom" classes, ranging between 00 and 00. though there are several condition races, inviting the better class of horses. Wilmington is only a half hour ride from Philadelphia and is quite a town in itself. There is a multitude to draw from. There is no better point for a high class racing association than Wilmington. It has every advantage and only needs the hacking of the Horse Show Corporation to insure ai important meetings as any held in the eastern district. It could be made as distinctive and elaborate as the most fashionable hunt meetings on Iuig Island.
