HARRY SHAW had a clear course from a slow beginning, gained steadily under energetic riding and got up to win in the final strides. PADDY WHACK took the lead with, a rush on the stretcli turn, but swerved to the inner rail in the deepest going wljen forced to a drive. .POLROMA was a forward contender throughout and finished gamely under punishment. WOODEN SHOES had a rough race and closed up rapidly when clear. PULLUX tired in the laSt eighth. There was much crowding and bumping on the backstretch after the start. . Start good and slow. Won ridden out; second and third driving. MARTIAN meed NORTHWOOD into defeat and drew clear in the last eighth, but was. under pressure to hold SLIPSHOD safe in the final drive. The latter, after being saved in the early running, moved up rapidly in the last quarter, but could not get to the leader. SKIBBEREEN tired in the last eighth, but outgamed NORTHWOOD in the filial drive. SUN KING tired badly and was eased up. FALMOUTH ran to the outside of the flags alter taking the eighth Jump. LUCULLITE came wide on the elbow and gnined steadily in the lust quarter, but tired in the closing strides. OLD ROSEBUD raced ORMESDALE into defeat in the first half mile, then took the lead on the baekstretcli and easily held the race safe to the end. ROAMER was saved in the early running nnd finished fast and gamely, but the winner held liiih safe. CHICLET was forced extremely wide on the turns, but passed THE FINN in the last eighth. BALLAD was in close quarters, when rounding the last turn, but slipped through next to the rail when entering the homestretch and finished fast and gamely. GRUNDY was shuffled back in the first quarter nnd moved up rapidly in the homestretch, but was tiring at the end. QUEEN OF THE SEA saved ground on the turns. KILMER raced wide, but closed a big gap.
