Weir has decided to- race Old Rosebud, Jack Hare Jr. and the other horses he is handling for Col. W. E. Applegate at Belmont Park. Jack Hare Jr. is not, Eligible for the Futurity,: to be run nt Belmont Park nept .month, but hi eligible for the Breeders Futurity at Lexington and may be shipped west to ill- that engagement if he remains in good form. Trainer Weir has an abiding fnith in Jack Hare Jr. arid regards him as capable of greater things than he has yet accomplished, fie was sanguine that hit would win the Grab Bag Handicap and attributes his defeat by Plevna, on the occasion of his preceding start to the circumstances that he may have been a bit too. easy with the colt in preparing him for that race. ,As long ago as the Aqueduct meetjng, trainerWelr .came to .the conclusion that Jack Hard Jr. might be hble to hold his own In first-class cbmpany, when one morning, the colt worked faster with a heavy boy on his back than the best two-year-olds in training ran in a stake race on the same afternoon.
