TING-A-LING, a forward contender from the start, came extremely wide in the homestretch, but closed up gamely under hard riding and drew clear in the last sixteenth. THORNHILL moved up on the stretch turn and made a game finish, but pulled up lame. AMALFI, after being saved in the early running, gradually improved his position and finished fast and gamely. OCEAN PRINCE had no mishaps and tired in the final drive. ZAMORA saved ground on the turns, but could never get to the leaders. AMBROSE set the early pace and quit badly in the homestretch. TOP O THE WAVE, uiider slight restraint in the early running, came around the leaders after entering the homestretch and, finishing gamely, outstayed WOODEN SHOES in the final drive. WOODEN SHOES passed NIGHTSTICK on the last turn and took the lead, but was tiring in the closing strides. KEBO, crowded back at the start, saved ground on the turns and finished resolutely. TRACTION also met with interference in the first eighth and gained steadily afterwards. WOODTRAP tired after going three-quarters. NIGHTSTICK set the early pace, but also tired and was net persevered with when beaten. MERCHANT was crowded and fell after the start. TOP COAT saved ground on the stretch turn and finished fast through the final eighth. RUTH LAW displayed excellent speed in pacemaking to. the last eighth, but tired badly when challenged. ELMENDORF saved ground on the turns and finished fastest of the leaders at the end. LADY DOROTHY was taken wide when entering the homestretch. SUBAHDAR tired after going well for a half. BARRY SHANNON was shuffled back on the back-stretch, but came around on the outside and finished gamely under hard pressure. HYANNIS tired after going well for three-quarters. PEACE AND PLENTY was a close contender all the way and finished gamely under punishment through the last eighth. CONFISCATION went up into the air at the start, but closed up steadily and outstayed STARWORT at the end. STARWORT began slowly, but closed a big gap and ran a creditable race. GOLDING raced next to the inner rail in tight quarters throughout. PAGANINI set the early pace, but quit in the last eighth. The winner, entered for 00, was bid" up to 05 and bought in.
