SPORTS CLIMAX AT BELMONT PARK Championship Honors Likely to Bo Decided in the Futurity and Lawrence Realization. By Ed Cole. Saratoga, X. Y., August 30. After a lapse of a mouth, racing will lie continued at Belmont Park next Saturday for a period of thirteen days, ending on Saturday. September 15. During that time there will be no less than seventeen stakes and handicaps decided with rich prizes attached, including the great Futurity, the most coveted two-yen r-old race of the year, and the Lawrence Bealization Stakes, two races that for years were run over the old Coney Island Jockey Club course. Not only will these fixtures attract the best horses, but the steeplechases are bound to bring out cross-country material of the finest quality. The best handicap horses will meet in the Belmont Autumn Handicap on the opening day, including Old Kosebud, Stromboli, Spur, The Finn. Crimper. Borrow, Rickety and others of more or less importance. This race is at a mile and an eighth and will .be worth more than ,000 to the winner. On the following Monday the feature will be the Champagne Stakes for two-year-olds, the first race for horses of this age over a seven-eighths course. Jack Ifrire Jr.. Bully Boy, Sun Briar, War Cloud. Gold Tassel, Enfilade. Debadou, Iltinia Thule, Conipadre and others of the WycklitTe Stable breeding. Latiius and possibly Matinee Idol and Top Coat will be seen in this race. Fine French-Bred Daughter of Lady Amelia. Such horses as these are likely to furnish an unusually interesting race, owing to the distance being seven-eighths, which may materially change the complexion of the form shown heretofore over shorter distances. August Belmont is represented by two, a colt and a filly named Pecksniff and Lading. His star yoiingster, Luciillitc, will not be among the entries. The " former is a home-bred horse, Willie the filly is a descendant of Xegofol Lady Amelia, ""and was bred in France, though tin; dam, Lady Amelia, will be remembered some years ago as being one of the fastest sprinters in her class. It is among the possibilities that Omar Khayyam and Hourless will meet on September 8 in the Municipal Handicap at a mile and a half, though hardly probable unless the handicappers drop them in at weights that will, suit the trainers of these two good horses. But that they will meet in the Realization Stakes on the closing day can almost be assured, in which event they will tackle horses of their own age and under equal conditions. This race is usually the true test of three-year-old supremacy and a meeting of these two stars is looked forward to with more than ordinary interest, opinions being divided which is the better of the two. All things considered, prospects look exceedingly bright for an interesting fall racing season at Belmont Park, where the much-discussed question of champions in practically all divisions may be settled.
