GRAND ARRAY OF STAKE ENTRIES Prominent Racing Stables of Country Will Compete for Rich Fixtures at Latonia Fall Meeting. Cincinnati, Ohio, August 30. When John Hach-meister, manager of the Latonia Jockey Club, returned from Saratoga he brought witli him stake entries from nearly every prominent racing stable in the country for the Latonia Cup and the Queen City Championship event. Some of the big stables might be missing, but if they are it is because they have nothing eligible or else what they have eligible is not up to snuff and would have no chance against such cracks as will compete in these events. The complete list of stake entries has not been tabulated as yet,, due to the far points some of the entries have to come from. When they are finally tabulated and placed in proper -order a surprising array of high-class material will be shown to be available for racing purposes. Secretary Campbell is devoutly wishing that not too much stress be laid upon the fact that so many good horses are going to Ik; in Kentucky. Last spring everybody got to talking about what a wonderful time it would be in the Blue Grass State and what, a great, horse would be needed to win a race, so that many of those with fair horses ducked Kentucky and sought out Canada and the East in the hope that they would find softer spots. This left, the handicap division of the racers a little weak and Campbell was at. his wits end to get a feature race every day. In fact he was unable to do so, and many a day went by with just the ordinary horses competing for ,000 and ,200 purses. Stall Room Will Be at a Premium. But such will not be the case this fall. With Canada closed and only Maryland competing against Latonia,. the Kentucky officials are going to have a hard time to find stall room for their horses. Big stables are coming here and as these contain the handicap division there will be plenty of feature races for the coming meeting, which opens on October 13 and continues until Xovember 10. While at Saratoga, Mr. Hachmeister found time to say a few words about the Latonia race track. Mr. Hachmeister says that for some reason he was late in getting his entry blanks over to England and the representative of the British Bloodstock Association in Xew York did not receive them until the last night before the closing of tht! entries; but even then he got busy with his telephone and picked up no less than twenty-four entries in that way. Mr. Hachmeister is so well satisfied with the response to the offer of this stake that he is in mind to add 5,000 to the Latonia Championship Stakes for .1920, which he is confident will bring the total value of the race up to 5,000.
