HUBBUB WINS LIBERTY BOND * Easily Accounts for First Race of the Kind to Be Run at Bowie. ♦ R. F. Carman Has Banner Day, Winning Two Races — Eg- mont a Repeater. ♦ Bowie. Mil.. April S. — Bowie started on its second and last weeks program with an excellent offering. Threatening "weather failed to keep the attendance down and an excellent crowd witnessed t he sport. R. F. Carman had a banner day. winning the first two races. Jockey Dominick was responsible for both wins. The talent suffered in the oiiening. when the odds on choice. Little Maudie. suffered enough interference after the start to warrant her pulling up and she was never prominent afterwards. Carmans Auntie, displaying much speed from the start, won easily from Milda. The second win for Carman was in the maiden dash, in which Louise V. carried his colors to victory after leading from the start. The first of the Liberty Bond purses was run as the fourth race, the value to the winner bcin; returned iu bonds of the new issue. Hubbub ran as if he outclassed his opponents in this race and won in an easy manner. Kilts chased the winner most of the way without avail, but held the others safe. The disappointing feature of the race was the i oor showing of Widow Bedotte. The mar-well supported in the betting, ran far below her previous form. Progressive, under a well-judged ride on tin-part of Rodriguea, easily accounted for the fifth race, in which Rose Water, the favorite, suffered from considerable interference. J. F. Sweeneys Egmont reiieatod his victory of Saturday, when he led all the way in tlie sixth to score a clean-cut win over Jimmy Burns. The closing dash resulted in the best finish of the afternoon. Kilmer winning by a small margin, hard pressed by Dalrose. which was wearing the winner down with every stride. k. Davies. the Canadian turfman, completed arrangements today with jockey T. Rice, by which the rider will journey to Toronto on Victoria day. May :M. to have the mount on Mr. Davies Pleasure Bent iu the Kings Plate, tlie oldest fixture on the American turf.
