BIG BAND OF KILMER TWO-YEAR-OLDS Thirty-One of Fine Breeding Remain After the Sale of Five by Trainer McDanicl. If numbers are to influence the matter. Willis Shariie Kilmer is destined to figure in the two-year-old racing of 191s about as importantly as he did in tlie similar racing of last year. He is registered as the owner and namer of thirty-six horses of that age. but recently his trainer. Henry McDanicl. has sold five of the youngsters, reducing the string of two-year-olds to a present membership of thirty-one. A part of these are at Louisville, the others at the home place in New York. Nine of the number are foreign bred and the progeny of Mordant, Sandanapale. Sweeper. Fits Herbert. Corcyra. Light Brigade. Wildfnwlev and Whit- Magic. These were mostly acquired at the Saratoga sales last year. From a breeding point of view the colt and filly by Sandanapale are the most interesting figures. This greatest of modern French race horses has had nothing to race as yet and the first of his progeny facing the starting barrier will do it in this country. It would be a great thing for his future in the stud if a fair proportion of his yearlings sold at Saratoga last summer by Delbert Reiff should turn out to be high-class two-year-olds. Sandanapale was a truly wonderful racer and so was his daddy. Prestige. Mr. Kilmers American-bred two-year-olds are the progeny of Ogden. Sea King. Ballot, Duke of Ormonde, Transvaal. Trap Rock and Assagai. Ogden being the best represented liecause of a wholesale private purchase of the Ogden crop of 1910 from John E. Madden. Also several are by his own stallion, Capt. John. So far there has liecii no suggestions of exceeding merit attaching to any one of the Kilmer youngsters, but it would be a strange thing if among so many a few should not crop up capable of contending for the years highest honors.
