! . • THIRTEEN FOALS AT J. K. L. ROSS FARM The Dest Bred Is by The Curragh — Mary Street — Four of Them Are by Prince Ahmed. Montreal. Que.. May 11. — Although therer is little prospect of the resumption of racing in Canada until after the war. there has been no curtailment ill breeding of thoroughbreds at the farm of Commander J. K. L. Boss, at Vercberes. There are now thirteen baby racers at the Boss farm, several of them being by foreign-bred sires and mares, while others are from American bred mares, and by well-known horses. 1m.Ui as sires and as racing machines. The foals are a healthy looking band and give promise of developing into first-class Iiorses. Thes;- foals are all eligiblcs for the events run on the Canadian tracks fashioned for Canadian bred horses, while they are also eligible for the Kings Plate and the Provincial Nursery Stakes, run an-1 niiallv at Blue Bonnets under the allspices of the Montreal Jockey Club. Many of the dams of the new arrivals are well-known to Canadian followers of the thoroughbred. through their having lieen raced oyer numerous of the C..nndian tracks. Probably the best bred of the band is a chestnut fill.v by The Curragh Mary Street. The Curragh is a son of S|r armint Currajong. As a two yea r- old The Currngii won the Bedford Pinto, as a three-year-old be won the Dee Stakes and as a foiir-I year-old he won the Ba bra ham Plate. Kemp ton Park Great Jubilee Handicap and the Prince of AVales Stakes, and was second in the Newmarket Handicap and ihe .Manchester Cup. There are four bv Prince Ahmed, a horse which carried the colors of II. G. Bedwell to victory in numerous race -- during his career. One is by Mala-inont. at one time owned and raced b.v Donat Kay-. mond. Malamont is one of the two get of the famous Flying Fox. now standing at the stud in America. The other is Bed Fox II.. owned by Dyiuents of Barrie. Two of the others are by Durante, owned bv Samuel Nesbitt. while one is by Oiseait. which was brought to Canada for br 1- ing purposes by the National Bureau of Breeding several years ago.
