HORSES SCARCE AND HIGH PRICED LEXINGTON. Ky., February 27. Body Patterson came here Sundav night from New York, thinking, possibly, he might bo able to buy a hunting horst, something out of the ordinary for ids employer, Robert L. Gerry; but when he left for home today he was as he came, except that he has considerably more enlightenment about what the owners of thoroughbreds ani asking for them. "I went to John Carrs farm, where the Mesdames Baker have Green Jones, James Foster and Dr. Shafer turned out," said Patterson. "Green Jones is of the type desired, and I wired an inquiry to the owners, at New Orleans. The response came from Tex Forman and it .flabbergasted me. Ten thousand dollars for a horse to ride to hounds! Whoopee! Thats certainly getting up among the pictures. James Foster would answer the purpose, but I didnt wire for a price on him. I was afraid Tex couldnt get it all on one piece of paper."
