MANY WITHDRAWALS AT HAVANA Changed Track Conditions Result in Wholesale Scratching Frank Weir to leave Soon. HAVANA, Cuba, February 27. A change in the going at Oriental Park this afternoon caused numerous withdrawals. Twenty-seven horses were scratched from tins six races. The program had been framed to suit the cheaper class of horses and only ordinary sport resulted. In the opener Prince Direct beat Minnie H. a couple of lengths, while Veldt catse from behind in the second and got up in the filial strides to triumph over Banyan by a nose. High Low had an easy time of it in the third, while Zu Zu made a runaway affair of the fourth. In the fiftli Scabbard made all the pace and had three lengths margin over the favorite, First Ballot, at the end. Jockey Thurber put up a weak finish on St. Judo in the final race and Attorney Muir, closing fast, got up in the final strides to beat him by a nose. The Xrccce brothers, Quentin and Godfrey Jr., left yesterday for New Orleans. They are on their way to Hot Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Preecc will leave for New York next week. Frank D. Weir has arranged to leave for New York to tako up his horses which have been wintered at Gravesend. Several of the string which have been racing at Oriental Park will be disposed of at private sale. J. Price lias purchased D. C. Girl at private sale of J. J. . Timmerman.
