KING GEORGES HORSES IN TRAINING Royal Stable of This Tear Mainly Composed of Two-Year-Olds of Choice Breeding. Over in England owners of all grades and classes are busily engaged in preparing to take their part in the resumption of racing. Among them King George has twenty-two horses in charge of trainer R. Marsh at Egerton House, of which sixteen are two-year-olds. Concerning the royal stable London Sportsman of February 11 says: "Firmly founded as it is upon the national affection, the reigning house has no more ardently loyal subjects that those intimately concerned with or taking a current interest in the progress of racing. "Of this fact evidence has time and oft been afforded on our courses, and many remarkable and enthusiastic demonstrations at a royal victory can never be erased from the chronicles of the turf. Thus, the announcement that, after the drawbacks and restrictions during the war, we were to have once again a full fixture list was sweetened by the intimation of the reappearance of the kings colors, following their temporary absence, and when they are again seen their hearty reception is certain. Egerton House does not show a long string of horses for the coming campaign, and though the numerical strength of a team is not always an indication of its racing value, it could have been wished that Marsh were able to point to something, outside his majestys two-year-olds, that indicated some brilliant possibilities for 1919. Twenty-two thoroughbreds are headed by the two four-year-olds Jutland and Soap Bubble, the latter of which failed last season to score in any of the five races he ran for, but Jutland won on three occasions. There was some merit in his victory in the three-year-old handicap at Newmarket in May, to which his narrow defeat by Treclare in a similar race a fortnight earlier lent likelihood, and in the autumn he won the Ellesmere Stakes and the Dullingham Plate, in the latter with ten pounds the best of the weights, turning the tables on Treclare. Vain Dream also did some service for the stable without fulfilling all expectations, as she was beaten in the more important races for which she competed, if exception be made of the Fulbourne Stakes, when she bowled over a warm favorite in Sonofagun now known as Kings Idler. As is the case with so many other teams for the forthcoming flat race season, Marsh bad a majority of two-year-olds, and upon -them he may possibly have to rely for what all hope will be a full measure" of success for the establishment..
