WESTERNERS GOING TO SARATOGA Majority of Prominent Owners Now Racing at La tonia to Ship East for Meeting at the Spa LATONIA Ky June 14 Western horsemen art going to invade Saratoga with greatly increased forces at the coming meeting at that track according to the plans being arranged by numerous stables now racing at Latonia The west has in past years invariably had a good representation at the Spa meeting but this year promises to outdo all former records in this regard The commencement of the Saratoga meeting fits in well with the close at Latonia The interval of almost four weeks be ¬ tween the two meetings will give the Kentucky horsemen abundant time to ship their horses and give them a brief rest for the strenuous campaign at Saratoga where they will be pitted against numerous highclass and fresh horses from the east ¬ ern stables The Kentuckians are confident that they will be able to hold tneir own against the eastern cracks As a matter of fact the Latonia contingent is in good racing trim and when the horses reach Saratoga they will be fully prepared to uphold the honor of Kentucky KentuckyAmong Among the more prominent stables that will par ¬ ticipate in this years Saratoga meeting are those of Thomas C McDowell K R Bradley IS J Brannon Mose Goldblatt Miller Henderson II II Hewitt Jefferson Livingston Gco J Long John F Schorr J AV Parrish J C Milam J N Camden AV The threeyear olds that will participate in the Saratoga meeting are a good band the more important ones being Sennings Park St Bernard American Ace Sam Reh Clermont Vulcanite Omond Lillian Shaw Toto Madge F Boil Jour Looking Up Regalo Dancing Spray and Bellsolar BellsolarAmong Among the best twoyearolds shown this year McDowells High Command and Distinction the latter the holder of the American record for four and onehalf furlongs Miss Jemima regarded as the best filly in the west Best Pal Sam Freed man AVestwood Mickey Moore Lunetta Red Red Rose and Atta Boy II IIKay Kay Spence who has been planning a campaign at Saratoga has rearranged his plans and instead will transfer his stable to Louisville at the con ¬ clusion of the Latonia meeting His decision was due to the fact that most of his horses are on the ailing list Hodge pulled up lame in his last race and Hociiir one of the best horses in the stable sustained a bowed tendon The threeyearold Redlita V and the twoyearold Miss BoPeep are bothered with throat trouble Spence has ar ¬ ranged that his crack rider T Murray will not be idle during the off season in Kentucky The boy will be sent to Saratoga to ride for one of the large stables that will be shipped there thereC C BOBINSON TO RIDE AT SARATOGA SARATOGAClifford Clifford Robinson the sensational Canadian youngster will also be seen in the saddle at Sara ¬ toga He will accompany the Ogden Stable and will be in charge of Miller Henderson the stables trainer and part owner Jockey Jack Howard now riding for the stable of T C McDowell will also be seen in the saddle at Saratoga for the first time in several years Other good riders who will represent the west at the Spa are II Lunsford S Boyle D Connelly E Pool L Gentry M Garner F Murphy AV AVarrington H Thurber and X Barrett Col R L Baker will not race at Sara ¬ toga and he lias given Garner the stables rider permission meetingThe to ride at the meeting The Clipsetta Stakes and the Enquirer Handicap are the stakes to be decided at Latonia next week The former will be run on Wednesday while the lat ter SaturdayThe will be decided on Saturday The Clipsetta is for twoyearold fillies and it is the first stake for the juveniles to be run at the meeting It has an endowment of 4000 and is at fiveeighths of a mile It closed with ninety nominations and includes in the list all of the crack juvenile misses of the west Among tlit more prominent ones are Miss Jemima winner of the Spring Trial Stakes T C McDowells Dis ¬ tinction R II Andersons Marjorie Hynes H P AVhitneys Red Red Rose Talisman Sweet Liberty Pop Eyes Starview Lunetta and Mysterious Girl Hor = emen are of the opinion that Miss Jemima has the race at her mercy but she will have her work cut out to beat Distinction if the latter starts Tin stake last year was won by Edward B McLeans Bon Jour The McLean stable has no candidate for this years renewal renewalThe The Enquirer Handicap is for threeyearolds ami over and is at one mile and has an added money value of 5000 The stake closed with ninetyone nominations and in addition to the stakes the winner will receive a beautiful silver cup donated by E B McLean of Washing ¬ ton This stake was instituted last year when it was practically an overnight affair and this years running will be the first time it par ¬ takes of the nature of a real stake Among the eligibles arc the cream of the older division of horses and the field that will contest for the rich prize is bound to be a representative one
