MAN 0 WAR HAS YET TO FEEL WHIP Samuel Riddles Unbeaten TwoYearOld Has Won All His Races Without Punishment NEW YORK N Y July 14 There are a half dozen horsemen who believe they have a colt or filly which can beat Man o War the big chestnut son of Fair Play belonging to Samuel Riddle Among them are John E Madden Harry Payne Whitney P A Clark and Walter J Salmon SalmonEach Each of these sportsmen has an extensive stable including a fine band of youngsters Mr Whitney has shown a half dozen juveniles any one of which might take the measure of the unbeaten Man o War Cobwebs Afternoon and Panoply have dis ¬ played tremendous speed in their recent races and llie racing public is on edge awaiting the time when they will meet Mr Riddles champion championMr Mr Clark has Bonnie Mary Marianna and several other fast youngsters which are working wonders In their exercise Mr Madden has at least a dozen fine juveniles which work well enough to warrant the belief that they will give a good account of themselves in championship company companyMr Mr Salmon has shown a half dozen fast young ¬ sters including Eddie Rickenbacher and Betty J but they arc much inferior to a couple he has not yet uncovered In trials the uncovered Salmon youngsters have time and again equalled records and Gene Weyland the trainer is confident at least one of his charges will come close to earning the juvenile crown crownLouis Louis Fcustel trainer for Mr Riddle is not worry ¬ ing about the other fellows horses escpccially those which have not started Ilis pet has done everything that has been asked of him and in such an im ¬ pressive manner as to warrant the belief that he will improve as the season progresses progressesAs As yet Man o War has not been touchpd by a whip In his last two races Johnny Loftus shook his whip at him to prevent him from loafing in the homestretch but that is as near as the rawhide 1ms come to him himMr Mr Salmon is a thorough sportsman and has a host of friends rooting for him to produce a champion
