JUMPERS WHICH CARRIED BIG WEIGHTS Turf writers of the present day are marvelling at the performances of The Brook in taking up 170 pounds and winning says an old time follower of the sport Apparently they have forgotten old Dr Catlett which picked up 173 pounds in the Hitchcock Steeplechase at Gravesend in 1899 and carried Gene Finnegan first past the judjjes Other meritorious performances through the field were dis ¬ played in the Champion Steeplechase three and one Iialf miles in which event Self Protection with Harry Page up Coligny Tim Donahue up and Sir Wooster Davidson up all carried 108 pound successfully Another notable performance was that of Lion Heart six years old at the time wlrich carried 17 pounds over a two and a half mile course in the Street Railway Steeplechase at Woodbine course Toronto In 1897 and woaV
