FITZ HERBERT TO REMAIN IN FRANCE NEW YORK N Y July 14 Clarence II Mack ay who lias announced the dispersal sale of hi entire stud of stallions and marcs at Saratoga in August will not offer the onetime brilliant Rice horse Fitz Herbert at this sale He has sold Fitz Herltcrt to a thoroughbred producer in France and the son of Ethelbert Morganatic which did great things in American racing he won the Suburban Handicap Lawrence Realization Stakes and Bowie Cup will remain in Europe Mr Mackay would have brought Fitz Herbert back to the United States last fall only the French government would not permit the exportation of thoroughbred stallions Fitz Herbert is represented in the United States by a number of winners notably Frederick the Great Lady Gertrude Lord Herbert etc etcFitz Fitz Herbert has had his greatest success when mated with Meddler marcs a number of which Xvill be offered at the impending sale The only stallion Mr Mackay will offer at Saratoga is Spanisii Prince a son of Ugly Galazoni which scut War Marvel and Merry Princess to the Ameri ¬ can races last year A yearling by Spanish Prince offered for sale in Great Britain last fall fetched 10000
