Howard was partly responsible for the failure of Peace Pennant in the second race. Angon led him to the finish, though Pence Pennant was probably the best. The upsets began- in the opener when Apple Jack II. got the verdict. Angon scurried home in advance of the others in the second, and John 0. upset calculations when he bent General Haig to the finish in the third race. Virgo was little thought of and won the sixth race in easy style. Mamlalay was the choice here, but she was away poorly and tried to run out for most of the way.
