NOVELTYS SON WINS BRAZILIAN PRIZE The Grand Prix Race des Produits, of about 0,000, one of the principal races of the season in Brazil, was run October 12 at Rio de Janeiro and was won by a colt named Kitchener, by Novelty Rivalite. The colt was bred by Senor de Paula Machado, the president of the Brazilian Turf Club, who is now in France on a mission for his government, and a regular patron of the Paris race meetings. Rivalite is a French-bred mare and Novelty, Kitcheners sire, is an American horse, the best of his two-year-old year, 1910. Novelty was sent to France in 1912, where he now is, and Rivalite was probably bred to him before importation. Novelty is now eleven years old, by Kingston Curiosity, by Pink Domino. Sam Hildreth raced him in 1910, after he had won for John Maddeiu from whom Hildreth bought him. Altogether, Novelty ran sixteen times that year and won ten of ills races, nine out of his last ten races, among them the Futurity, Rensselaer Handicap, Hopeful .Stakes, Two-Year-Old Special and Saratoga Special. His seasons winnings in 1910 were 2,030. In 1911 Novelty won four out of five races, purses only, and was "done" as a nice horse through bad legs and when the eastern racing slump came lie was sold to France. Altogether in this country lie had won fourteen out of twenty-one races and 1,475.
