50,000 OFFER FOR ORPHEUS REFUSED LONDON, England, October 20. An offer of 50,000 for Orpheus, 3, by Orby Electra, by , Eager, has been refused. Galloper Light, 4, by Sunstar Santa Fina, by St. Frusquin, which won the 1919 Grand Prix de Paris, and as fine an individual as he ,is well bred, was injured by racing on hard ground and has been retired, going to the South Court Stud I as a sire. Sir Samuel Hordern, the Australian- department I store magnate, has bought Violoncellos brother. Beacon, a grand yearling, from Mr. Leopold de Rothschild for 5,000. He is by Valens Catgut, by Lactantius. John S. Sanford of Amsterdam, N. Y., recently bought for 1920.sh,000 the yearling colt by Charles OMalley Captivating Princess, 1913, by Captiva-tiou.
