IMPROVEMENT? AT BOWIE BALTIMORE, Md., October 20. Patrons of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Associations, racing will see, when they assemble at Prince Georg.e. Park, Bowie, in mid-November for the inauguration of the, fall meeting of 1920, the meeting that will wind up big track rachifr in the East for the year; a plant improved almost beyond recognition. General manager Jnmes F. OHara set out" last spring lo make improvements Intended to increase the comfort of patrons of Prince George Park, where the first and last race meetings of the eastern year are regularly held. The most conspicuous of the improvements is a new clubhouse, a brick building" of colonial architecture, than Which there Is none handsomer at any race course in the United States. This building occupies the site of the old executive building. The latter building has been moved one hundred and fifty yards" up toward the first turn and is to be used hereafter as a storage room. A new executive building has been constructed back of the saddling shed. The grandstand has been lengthened 328 feet and its seating and sheltering capacity doubled. The covered stand extends now below the extreme liniir of the old bleacher stand. Bleachers have been constructed along the front stretch down tQ a point opposite the last furlong post. The gorge tliat flanked the old bleacher stand has been filled vfltii earth and gravel that have been removed from the infield with steam shovels, and the elevatipri in the center of the infield, which once obstructed the view: of persons, has disappeared. The" space underneath the grandstand has been utilized for the enlargement of the betting facilities. There will be twice as many machines in operation this fall as there were last spring- and twice as. many cashier stands, because the betting inclbsure will be 128 feet longer and 40 feet wider than it was.
