WINKFIELDS PRIDE WAS CHANCE BRED In writing about the luck attached to breeding, an English commentator instances Winkfleld and his brother, Morion. The former was so bad as a race horse that he was sold with a lot of useless fillies for something like 00 anything to clear them out. To make matters worse Winkfleld had ricked his back, but still he begat Wlnkfields Pride from one of those supposedly worthless fillies. On the other hand Morion, though a great race horse, was a rank failure as a sire.
