Sandy McNaughton will care for Uer horses, which have been joined by Enfilade and Audacious, during her absence. Sam C. Hildreth is under the weather at the Pennsylvania Hospital. He is threatened witli an operation for appendicitis. Phil T. Chinn was in New York Sunday and left for Maryland. He lias but wo old horses, Ahailniie and Torehliearer. Both are resting in Kentucky. Clilnn has a dozen yearlings at the Himyar stud, nil of which will leave shortly for Hot Springs, Ark. Matt Byrnes, the veteran trainer, recently sold his farm at Eatontowu, N. J., to the Santa Barbara Polo Club, which will put a club house and stables on t lie place and use most of its acres for a playing field. John Hastings, who trained the Schwartz horses this year, yesterday signed an agreement to train the stable of Walter M. Jeffords of Philadelphia from January 1 for two years.
