CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The record time for the Australian Rnndwiek Plate is still the 3:27 made by Trafalgar in 1911. Trafalgar won that race four times in succession, and it isy long odds against any other horse ever equaling hat performance. The Australian middle distance champion Gloaming lias tbeen temporarily retired and sent hack to New Zealand. If he recovers from his bleeding habit the:, fast gelding will be raced in the future only over sprinting distances. H. E. Swan, an American business man in Cuba, recently paid ,000 for a Cuban-bred yearling by Don Thrush, foaled at the A. H. Diaz Turibacca Farm near Havana. He was bought for an entry to the Cuban Produce Stakes of 1921. The famous Australian hurdle racers Le Mattan, which was six years old, by Harmattnn Le Port, dropped dead in his stable at Melbourne last month. He was extra good at the game and last year won seven races in succession over the sticks. . Jockey Simpson Boyle, now riding at the Havana track, will resume riding for E. R. Bradley, his former contract employer, in Kentucky next spring. Boyle was In the service of Mr. Bradley when he sustained an injury to his leg at Lexington last " ..spring, which accident prevented him from riding for a time."
