GALLOPING AT LOUISVILLE Derby Candidates Seen Under Saddle Knebelkamp Horses Reach Douglas Park LOUISVILLE Ky March 11 Short training gallops were in order at the two local tracks today especially at Douglas Park where quite a few trainers sent their charges along at a brisk clip for half a mile or so The going at both places was still a bit soft but Churchill Downs had dried out much better than Douglas Park which is in direct contrast to the state of affairs which pre ¬ vailed here in former years in this respect respectRed Red Legs made the best move of the morning at Douglas Park by running onehalf mile in 3 Sir Thomas Kean went the same distance in 3 with his rider holding him hard Hoth of these horses are Kentucky Derby eligibles Fourteen Derby candidates are at the two tracks here eleven at Douglap and three at the Downs Practically all of the Derby horses were given gallops today todayJ J S Ownbey came in from New Orleans with the hordes of Pat Knebelkamp and a few of his own and took quarters at Douglas Park ParkMiller Miller Henderson is here for a brief stay before proceeding to Havre de Grace where his horses were sent from New Orleans OrleansWar War Garden and Handymo which were turned out all winter near Lexington have been added to the A L Kirby string here hereKay Kay Spence is looking after the horses of John Lowe which spent the cold months at Douglas Park Included in this band are High Cloud Sweeping Glance Hunters Point Yelie K Advance and a few twoyearolds twoyearoldsHradleys Hradleys Choice Korbly and Jim Heffering were brought down from Latonia where they wintered and are now in Milo Shields stable This trio will be put in active training immediately but the indi ¬ cations are that Hradleys Choice and Korbly will not be ready to race until next autumn autumnH H N Dick Yestal plans to ship the G L Rlackford horses hero from New Orleans within the next week according to advices received today The Hlackford establishment is composed entirely of twoyearolds twoyearoldsRacing Racing secretary William IT Shelley returned from Lexington tonight while general manager Matt J Winn proceeded to Latonia LatoniaTwice Twice as many requested reservations of boxes for Dereby day as can be filled have been received at Churchill Downs with more pouring In on every mail Some of the requests arrived as early as last November
