HISTORY OF SENNINGS PARK Wcstmont Stables Good Handicappcr of the Steadily Improving Sort. The five-year-old horse Sennings Iark, by Jim Gaffney Irish juccu, by Rearcatclier, which won the Champlaiu Handicap Saturday at Saratoga from .Mad Hatter, Paul Jones and Touch Me Not, has shown constant improvement this year and right now is able to hold his own with the handicap horses in the country. This horse cost Mr. Lawrence Waterbury Unreported sum of 3,000 two years ago. He was bought from Mose Goldblatt. who paid around ,000 for him at auction during the spring meet ing at Churchill Downs in 101!. Sciming Iark always has been a fast horse, and while he trained off directly after his purchase by Mr. Waterbury, he now is in the best of condition. Sennings Iark was bred and partly owned by 0. A.. I.iauchi "Daggie Smith", but his dam was owned by W. II. Luessing, a Louisville grain merchant. The story of Sennings Iark carries with it a bit of sentiment, for his half owner, Mr. Luessing, was so devoted to the colt that he gave most of his time from the colts early paces in watching his development. The main incentive for his love was the winning of the Kentucky Derby of 1019. The colt was given a special preparation for the race, but Mr. Luessing died before the event was run. He was the victim of influenza and. luring his delirium a few days before his death, he described the race, but his description failed to come true. He could see, he said, Sennings Iark in fourth position rounding the stretch bend and, fighting his way through, come on to beat Hilly Kelly a head at the finish. The facts were that Sir I.arton, which had never won a race before, took the lead at the rise of the barrier and won the Derby by five lengths from Hilly ICelly, his stablematc, while Under Fire was third. Vulcanite fourth and Sennings Iark fifth. Hchiiul Sennings Iark, however, finished He Frank, Sailor. St. Rernard, Regain, Eternal, the favorite, Frog-town and Vindex. Seu.niugs, Park: was .sold to settle the partnership between Luessings widow and Riauclii. After Mose -Goldblatt bought the horse lie was considered one of the fastest colts in the West and won several fas, races. In one of these races lie set a mark at one mile of llotiS at Latonia, which is still a track record. As a two-year-old he won S,J25, as a thrce-year-old SS.5, as a four-year-old ,1-10, and so far this year has started twelve times, in which he has won three times, been second three times, third twice and unplaced four times, and has amassed a total of 0,731..
