DORVAL PARK RACING TODAY Six Hundred Horses Available, and Prospects for Good Meeting Are Encouraging. MONTREAL. Que.. August 25. The Dorval Jockey Clubs second meeting of the year, scheduled to begin tomorrow, will be inaiiguraed under most favorable conditions. Fully 000 horses are on . the grounds, a greater number than have been here since the track was first opened, and the quality is of a higher standard than were here in the spring. There seems to be unbounded enthusiasm among the local followers of the sport in spite of tin? fact that racing .has.been going 011 almost continuously hereabouts since early in the spring. "The Dorval Jockey Club has been liberal in its purse offerings, being within ,000 of that distributed at some of the big tracks in Ontario. All of the prominent Canadian owners- will be represented at the meeting. The establishment of Commander J. K. L. Ross reached here this morning from Windsor, the consignment being made up of two carloads. The Saratoga division of the Ross stable will be here in a few days. The Seagram, Thornclif fe and Brookdale stables are already on the grounds. The track is in splendid condition and the program offered for the opening day a well-balanced one. Mortimer Mahoney, a recent arrival from Baltimore, brings the news of many improvements at both Pimlico and Dorval. The main entrance at Pimlico has been shifted from Hayward street to end of Winner street. The paddock has been remodeled, an addition of twenty-one feet being added to it. Sixty-five feet have been added to the grandstand. The grandstand at Laurel has also been increased by an addition of seventy-five feet. A recent ruling of the commission is that drinking fountains be placed on all of the Maryland courses. Trainers and Jockeys participating in the racing in Maryland next fall will be requested to take out. a license with the state racing commission, the cost of which will be . Jockey Romanelli was an arrival . from Windsor this morning. The Seagram stable has been increased by the addition of three imported two-year-olds, one of them a recent winner in England.
