AENDOR also closed a big gap and would have won in a few more strides. NOSE DIVE raced in closest pursuit of DOVESROOST to the last eighth and finished gamely, but was tiring in the closing strides. DOUGHNUT was knocked back on the last turn and came fast after recovering. DOAESROOST set a fast pace to the last eighth and tired badly. IIOBEY BAKER, saved under steady restraint in the early running, took the lead on the back-stretch and, racing CARPET SWEEPER into defeat, drew away when entering the stretch, then held on resolutely when challenged and outfinished DONNACONA in the tirst quarter and gradually closed up on the leader, but was tiring through the last quarter. CARPET SWEEPER set the early pace, and retired in the last quarter. RECOUNT ran well and finished gamely. Scratched SGSlSKnot, 109. Overweights lllobey Baker, 4 pounds. SPORTING BLOOD gradually improved his position and finished fastest and gamest of all. BIT OF AVHITE was a forward contender for the entire race and held on resolutely in the final drive. GALLIVANT set a good pace in the early running and held on gamely for second place in the final drive. FLUFF raced close up from the start and came fast and gamely through the stretch. VIOLINIST raced tamely all the way. SWEEP BY was hard ridden and gained slowly. MY PLAY showed early speed. SIDEREAL was eased up when beaten.
