EMPIRE CITY NOMINATIONS All Stake Races for the Fall Meeting Show a Gain Over Last Year. NEAV YORK, N. Y August 25. Secretary A Schaumberg of the Empire City Racing Association reports that the stake races for the autumn meeting nt the Yonkers course have filled beyond his expectations, the total for this year being 358 for the seven events, as compared with 279 In 1920. The Yorktown Handicap, at a mile and a quarter, shows a gain of nine; the Pelliam Bay Handicap, at a mile and an eighth, an increase of five, while the Scarsdale, at a mile for all ages, is up nineteen from the figures of 1920, this race receiving a total of forty. Including nearly every good horse in training. The increase in the Hartsdalc, for two-year-olds, is substantial, the total being seventy-one, as against forty-seven in 1920. It is the same story in the Ardsley, a two-year-old handicap, the figures being seventy-six, as aghinst seventy-one. The Autumn Days Stakes, for maiden two-year-olds, has seventy, or eight more than last. year. The smallest increase is in the Raiuhow Selling Stakes, which closed with fifty-six, which is four more than those of hist autumn. In the two-year-old race Morvich, Kai-Sang, Little Chief, Pillory, Runstar and other fine juveniles are named. Mad Hatter, Grey Lag, Cirrus, Thunderclap, On AVatch, Audacious, Sporting Blood, Flatnbette, Blazes, Scnnings Park, Yellow Hand. Tryster, Prudery and Naturalist appear among the nominations for the races exclusively for three-year-olds and over. There is an abundance of good material for a good meeting during the period em- ! braced by the dates, October 17 to 29.
