SECOND DAY AT DEVONSHIRE Summerlike Weather Brings Out Large Crowd Guy Captures Principal Race. WINDSOR, Out., August 29. Heal suminerlike Weather prevailed today and a crowd of go:l pro-poliins turned out to wititts tiie second days racing at Devonshire Park. The track wis in surprisingly goOd condition following a heavy rain last night. Taking the lead immediately after the start, Mrs. J. Phillips Guy never really left the result in doubt in the handicap, the fiftli and feature attraction of the afternoons program. At the end he scored by a comfortable margin over Irish Kiss, which in turn was driving hard to save second place from the fast closing The Archer. The latter commenced slowly but finished fastest of all. Jockey Lang had the mount on Guy and. after opening up a winning lead in the first quarter, rated his mount along skilfully for the remainder of the race. The miming of the two-year-old race, second on the card, was productive of a thrilling stretch struggle in which Dorothy Buekiier, Hilly Dunn and Bumpety Bumps led in turn. The latter showed in front by a narrow margin, however, when they passed the judges, and he was declared the winner and paid the largest dividend of the meeting. 18.30 for a .00 investment. Montalvo. after racing Fitz-Boodle into defeat on the stretch turn, scored au easy victory in the fourth race at one mile for three-year-olds, which served as the secondary feature. C. T. Worthingtons filly Icon won the opener narrowly, having only a head winning margin over Miss Dora. Ill,-, atom Fair led all the way in the third race and. although in no iaugcr of defeat, her rider jik no chances and kept her to her task until the winning line was crossed. F. S. Livingstone, secretary of the Thorncliffo Park Hasing Association of Toronto, was a visitor today and distributed the books for the coming meeting, which opens on September 10 at the Leaside course. A number of horsemen racing here have announced their intention of shipping their stables to Toronto at the close here, among them the Sunnyland Stable, Nevada Stock Farm. C. P. Winfrey, V. Garrett, C. Irbv, S. Poll: and W. M. Cain. Jockey Gantner was on the ailing list today and was unable to fill his riding engagements. i
