DORVAL MEETING AT END. Kuklux Captures the Closing Day Feature Carry On Wins the Canadian-Bred Race. MONTREAL, Que.. September 2. Charles W. Hall furnished in Kuklux the winner of the Cham-plain Handicap, which was offered as the feature attraction for the closing days racing at Dorval Park this afternoon. Back of the unsoxed son of Broomstick finished Lads Love and My Mazie, second and third respectively. The dash, which was at three-quarters of a mile under haudicap conditions and furnished a spirited contest, the three placed horses racing past the judges heads apart. McTag-gart, who had the mount on the winner, was content to lay -within close striking distance of the early leaders and Kuklux responded with good courage when called upon for the final effort. Ideal weather conditions favored the track this afternoon and resulted in a large crowd journeying to the course to witness the decision of the final days program. The card was pretty well divided, sprinters and long-distance performers each having an opportunity. Canadian-breds were called to the post in the fourth race, which was at a mile. This resulted in a spectacular finish, in which Carry On defeated Mouette. The latter was worked out a mile and a quarter in 2:0S in preparation for her engagement in the Kings Plate, to be run on Monday. The mare was eased up a trifle by Merimee, but was set down and worked out the distance impressively. This marked the second vietory for jockey Romanelli. he having scored with American Eagle in the previous race. Lady Heart was the victress in the opening dash after a strenuous drive to outlast Troutling. The latter ran greenly and when well in front at the eighth post bore on the outside, but came again at the end. Sentimental came from behind and beat a shifty band of sprinters under claiming conditions in the sixth. White Haven was the one to place, while Assumption was third. The winner was ridden by Merimee LORD BYNG TODAYS GUEST OFHONOR. tr.iZ-vfuri firtuuuneed today that-Lord Byng,.Uie" new governor-general of Canada, would be a visitor at Blue Bonnets for the opening day. The visit is strictly an informal one. M. L. Snelson received a copy of a Jacksonville : paper in which it was stated that a mixed meeting would be given in that city in the fall. Work on the construction of a new fair grounds is well under way at which plant the meeting will be held. Daniel McLaughlin of the Canadian detective agency, who has charge of policing the grounds, was warmly complimented by the management for the excellent manner in which he executed his duties. Untiring efforts on Mr. McLaughlins part was responsible for the arrest of a member of a band of counterfeiters who had been working with some success at different race tracks this year. The condition books for the coining meeting at Havre de Grace were distributed by Dr. W. A. Asche today. Tom Hodge has announced his intention of shipping direct from Windsor to Havana, where he will race next winter. It was stated today that a division of the Thorn-cliffe Stable will be shipped to one of the winter tracks this year. The entry of the horse Col. Murphy has been ordered refused in future. The horse is a bleeder. Jockey J. Kowan departed for New York to rejoin the E. F. Whitney stable, while C. Lang will report to trainer Bringloe to do the riding at Blue Bonnets. Several carloads of horses left for Toronto last night to take part in racing at Dufferin Park. Included in the shipment were the horses of W. R. Padgett. J. J. Russell, R. P. Davidson, R. V. Haymaker, .1. McDonald, W. Hopkins and W. Barnes. Among the arrivals from Saratoga today were Bob Bain. Col. Lafeblock, accompanied by H W. Rickert, who motored here.
