OLD ROSEBUD AT GRAVESEND TRACK NEW YORK, N. Y.. September 2. Old Rosebud, winner of the 1914 Kentucky Derby, and the most noted, "come back" in the thoroughbred world in years, is at Gravesend under the care of his old trainer, Frank D. Weir. The old campaigner essayed to stage another "come back" this summer and had trained to the point where he worked htrec-quurters of a mile over the Empire rack in 1:14, but following that, trial he again went wrong and it -will be a long while, if ever, before he is able to get to the races again. There is an overwhelming amount of sentiment connected with Weirs handling of the son of Uncle Ivory Bells, and no matter how bad the gelding is afflicted he exercises patience with him and is confident that he will be able to bring him back to winning form. He whs the standby of the Weir estahlishnient for a long while, and this trainer almost performed the miraculous with him when he revived him after his first breakdown in the Withers Stakes at Belmont Park seven years ago.
