Won driving; second and third the same. BRILLIANT RAY set and forced a fast pace and raced HILLSDALE into defeat, but was doing his best to outstay ASHLIN. The latter began slowly and was forced to work her way up, but finished with a rush and would have won in another stride. HILLSDALE ran a good race to the stretch, but was tiring badly at the end. JOSEPH BRANT closed a big gap resolutely. SWORD finished fast on the outside. CHASTE STAR quit. HOBEY BAKER Was much used in forcing the early pace and tired badly after racing into the lead. MONTALVO showed much speed but quit. DUG DE MORNY, DARK HORSE and BRIDESMAN finished close up. .
