w MAISONNEUVE MEETING GETS STARTED MONTREAL, Que., October 11. Racing finally got under way here today after yesterdays . postponement. The track was deep in mud and the weather decidedly cold, but nothwithstanding a fair-sized crowd turned out for the afternoons sport. A Canadian -bred race at a mile featured the racing and the winner was P. E. Lalannes Allies Way, which scored as if a good deal the best. The winner was saved well back from the fast early pace set by Foxhaven, moved up steadily when called on and, after saving ground at the turn for home, came again and gamely scored with a half length to spare. Last Chance finished third, barely outlasting the fast closing Dormai.. The colors of Mrs. A. Miller were carried to the front in the second and third races with Banyan and Frenchy. R. Pauley rode both winners. The exodus from the local tracks Is well under way. T. Hodge has shipped his useful plater, Betty J., along with American Soldier, a good campaigner over a long distance, to the Laurel track. M. E. Thompson has shipped Zoie to Bowie and J. C. May has sent Edith K., Vim and Drapery to the same place.
