ARGENTINA NEW B0TAF0G0 Pulgarin Best Horse in Republic Winning Figures of South American Center. The first big three-year-olds race of the -acing season in Argentina is the Polla de PotraLcas, for fillies, ruu over one mile and this year worth 0,575 to the winner. It was decided August 7 and was won by the Ecurie Shorthorns dark bay filly Ceramica by a head from Malquerida, which was one and one-fourth lengths in front of the third. There were twelve runners. The favorite, Dorancla, was well beaten. The winner was the second choice. Caramica is by Craganour Cinerea, by Missel Thrush, by Orme Leyenda, by Stiletto Diadema, by Gloriation, from Lilienkrone, a mare by Kingcrafe, which was exported to South America in 1885. Ceramica has been running consistently through the season. The second had recently graduated from the maiden class. The Polla de Portrillos, for colts, was worth ,750 to the winner, Pulgarin, an overwhelming favorite in a field of six runners. Pulgarin is owned by Senor J. V. Roca. The winner jumped into the lead at the start. He was never headed nor seriously threatened and won easily by one and a half lengths. Pulgarin, which is described as "this years Botafogo," is a chestnut colt by Cyllene La Nenita, by Polar Star, from Margot, by Gay Hermit. Her granddam is the imported mare Donnina, by George Frederick. Cyllene was 23 years old when he sired Pulgarin. The leading Argentine sires to July 31, 1921, were: Sires. Races. Amts.
