The latter set a good pace and raced the early contenders into defeat, but tired when challenged by the winner. CITATION closed an immense gap while racing on the outside and finished with a rush. WILD DEUCE also made up ground and finished gamely. SIMPLE SIMON tired in the linal eighth. AWNING was forced wide throughout and tired badly in the stretch. TODY showed excellent speed in leading in the early running and was taken back and saved until well into the stretch, then easily passed MAJOR PARKE and won easing up. MAJOR PARKE recovered his speed miraculously and, rushing into the lead, set a fast pace, but tired in the last eighth. TUFTER lacked early speed, but gained steadily in the last half mile and was wearing MAJOR PARKE down in the linal strides. FRANK FOGARTY finished well.
