The daily average distribution amounted to .ti:.9. While the total distribution falls short of that of the 192d-!921 meeting, the monetary decrease is the result ~t three days loss racing than last year. Had the recent meeting continued for 110 days, same as the preceding one. the grand total distribution for 1921-1922 would have exceeded that of last year by several thousands. It is interesting to glance over the figures the entire eight meetings held in the Cuban metropolis. From a modest beginning in 1914-1915. when slightly over 00,000 was offered to nearly three-quarters of a million for r tin- eighth season, is the history of the rapid growth and prosperity of winter racing on n the Pearl of the Antilles. All previous attendance ■ records were shattered, the crowds on Saturdays. Sundays and holidays generally y taxing even the commodious accommodations of beautiful Oriental Park. The racing S itself was more interesting, due to the participation of a better grade of horses than were e available in former years. Twenty rich stake races, headed by the popular and valuable [e Cuban Derby, gave tone and quality to the sport. Several of these features were endowed tj . the Cuban government for the purpose of encouraging and improving the breeding of horses on the island. That it has had a good effect is already seen in the continually increasing - number of new breeding farms in Cuba. So pleased were the officials of the Cubav-Atnerican - Jockey and Auto Club over the success of the meeting that they are already y planning planning greater greater things tilings for tor next next winter. winter. | J ■ i J • J « J f " * ,; C s I ] : ■ 1 i I A I I I I | , , t | j , j ] . j , ] , , ] ] ] ] I | • 1 planning planning greater greater things tilings for tor next next winter. winter.
