March 28 —The Maryland state senate is ready to tackle the various racing b.lls. President Norris is expected to yield the chair for a short time lo talk 011 race track iegisla-SeBltiaa. His bill providing a tax of *10.000 a day on I race tracks and limiting the number of lays of rac- j bag to 72 will be one of the bills considered. The effort will be made to kill the anli belting bill. which will deprive the state of approximniely 50,000 revenue, and pass the Norris hill, which will piovide almost this niiioait of revenue. The Norris bill has Bet yet been in the house. In addition to tliese measure. affecting the race tracks there are two other bills on the same subject: one by Senator Frick. providing a 0,000 a day tax. and another by Senator Parran. which would wipe out not only all betting, hut all horse racing, except county fairs. The Parian bill also stipulates that the racing at county fails shall not 1 be for moie than the five-day period. These two Jiills are not expet.ed to come up with the oilier measures. measures.
