4 E. F. WHITNEYS 1922 STABLE Good Band of Horses Training for Maryland Racing— Rhine Maidens First Foal. The K. W, Whitney horses are training at Havre de Grace, preparing for early spring racing in Maryland. All of the horses are reported in good condition. The Whitney stables older horses were reinforced late in the fall by the addition of Carpet Sweeper and Mainmast at the Pimlico sale. In addition to the elder division the stable will send six two-year-olds into competition when the season opens. These include Phiiiegold, by Kock View, the first foal of Mr. Whitneys fine race mare Rhine Maiden, which won the Preakness at Pimlico in 1915 and continued to race with distinction until she was a six-year-old. She was always a sterling performer in the mud. Tin- fine filly Second Thoughts, which performed with much success in the Whitney colors as a two-year-old last year, is A pet ted to carry her owner* colors to victory in three-year-old events during Oncoming season.
