Mistake at Belmont Park The third race at Belmont Park yes ¬ terday was marked by an occurrence rare In racing It was officially a dash of four and a half furlongs for twoyearolds but by a blunder was run at a half mile and this result was allowed to stand Under western rac ¬ ing rules the race as it was run would have had to be run over again at the correct distance but Jockey Club rules In such a case only require running again at the right distance when an objection Be made before official confirmation of the numbers of the horses placed in the race In this case nobody concerned seems to have cared enough or knew enough to make an objection so Cormac only had to run a half mile to win a four and a half furlongs race
