EXTERMINATOR THAIS All Wonderful Gelding Continues His Winning Way Uninterrupted Easily Triumphs Over Mad Hatter Hatterin in Garden City Handicap Handicapat at Belmont Park NEW YORK N Tt June 1C Extermi ¬ nator the mighty added another victory to his brilliant list at Belmont Park today when he readily took the measure of the Rancocas Stables Mad Hatter in the mile and a sixteenth of the Garden City Han ¬ dicap dicapTo To win the son of McGee and Fair Em ¬ press ran the distance in 1 44 which was wonderfully good time considering the fact that he took up 135 pounds and ran into a high wind all down the backstretch This weight is just what he is required to shoul ¬ der in the Brooklyn Handicap to be run Friday at Aqueduct and it was an excellent final to his preparation for that stake stakeThe The wonderful old gelding whose great ¬ ness began when he won the Kentucky Derby for Willis Sharpe Kilmer four years ago has gone on until he is easily the greatest handicap horse in training trainingBeginning Beginning this year with a victory in the threequarters of the Harford Handicap at Havre de Grace he has taken up all sorts of weights and raced over every condition of track and over all distances distancesThe The Garden City was only an overnight handicap but such is the popularity of Exterminator that he was applauded with a hearty outburst that might have been ex ¬ tended after a Suburban or a Brooklyn BrooklynREADY READY FOR THE BROOKLYN BROOKLYNThe The old fellow came out of the race eager to go on and it would seem that there is no reason for not sending him back Friday in the mile and an eighth of the Brooklyn BrooklynJust Just half a dozen went to the post in the Garden City but it was rated as a twohorse race with Mad Hatter and Exterminator standing out easily over the others Mad Hatter was in receipt of seven pounds from Mr Kilmers champion and some good judges were of the opinion that Mr Vosburgh had made a mistake in having the difference so wide No time was lost at the barrier and Johnson had Exterminator away well in his stride but he took hold of him and per ¬ mitted the lightly weighted Two Feathers and Billy McLaughlin to show the way waySande Sande was in third place with Mad Hatter and he had his mount under restraint John ¬ son was watching Mad Hatter and he did not make a move with Exterminator until nearing the turn out of the backstretch There he cut to the inside and began his winning run runIt It looked for all the world like a suicidal place to send the old chestnut for he was in imminent danger of being cut off But he worked his way through and before the stretch was reached he was in second place Mad Hatter in the meantime had opened up a lead of a couple of lengths Swinging into the stretch the battle was a short one for Exterminator went to the Rancocas Stable horse without an effort and on by he came along to win with plenty to spare Devasta ¬ tion outstayed the others to be third and Billy McLaughlin was next with Damask and Two Feathers bringing up the rear rearIt It was just one more remarkable race for the Kilmer gelding and Gene Wayland was in no measure surprised that he should win so easily He has long since ceased to won ¬ der at the deeds of the great gelding geldingWISHBONE WISHBONE ALL THE WAY WAYWishbone Wishbone from the Allies Stable was an easy winner of the six furlongs of the second race a dash for threeyearold fillies S J Lawler had waited with the daughter of Sweep and Chicle until she was in mid season form before sending her to the post and he made no mistake She was opposed by John E Maddens Harridan an eligible for the American Oaks and the Oakridge Stables Sherando a filly that has shown real sprinting ability abilityBut But Wishbone left them early and Fair brother hustled her along all the way to have her home winner by four lengths from Harridan and Sherando was five lengths far ¬ ther away While the margin of victory was a wide one Fairbrother took no chances and rode Wishbone out Sho ran the three quarters in 111 which was remarkably fast time considering the fact that a high wind was blowing up the backstretch backstretchThe The race nm by Harridan was one to suggest that Emotion has little to fear from her Thursday The daughter of Friar Rock was saved through the early stages by Sande and when called on she readily disposed of Sherando but in the stretch she tired badly Continued on twelfth pace EXTERMINATOR THATS ALT Continued from first page and was well beaten She was giving Wish ¬ bone seven pounds poundsNine Nine ordinary platers made up the field for the mile of the fifth race and J J OTooles Algoa proved rather an easy winner from Mrs J L Hollands Gen Cadorna and P S P Randolphs Mount Hope was along in time to save the third thirdThe The start was a bit straggling with Joseph Brant away flying while Algoa was one of the tailenders and the others were a bit strung out Lang made every use of his advantage at the start with Joseph Brant and he sent him into a good early lead Gen Cadorna and Mollic Barnes went after him and before the head of the stretch was reached they both caught him himIn In the run home Joseph Brant quit and then along came Mount Hope and Algoa Mollie Barnes was a bit pinched off in the last eighth and as she dropped back Algoa made his winning rush Gen Cadorna held on well after the use that had been made of him to save second place and the others were strung out with the early pacemaker last of the lot lotTranslate Translate was claimed after his victory by A Simons for 2500 2500Zealot Zealot was claimed out of the same race by J L Holland for 3603 3603C C J Casey has shipped tho horses of the Pelican Stable to Hamilton Ont and they will be campaigned over the Canadian cir ¬ cuit for the rest of the season seasonWhile While Mr Page announced that he would ride his Gold Plate in the Grand National Steeplechase Wednesday that old horse was not named in the overnight entries It may be that he will be an added starter starterThe The best evidence of the gradual wearing out of the epidemic that kept so many horses away from the races earlier in the year is found in the return of the sick ones onesWhiskaway Whiskaway is named to start in a mile race Wednesday and Aladdin a Hancocas Stable twoyearold is back in the entries again againFred Fred Burlcw has announced that he will send Morvich in the Carlton Stakes Satur ¬ day and that it will be his last New York appearance before being shipped to Latcnia for the 50000 Special there thereT T J Healey does not know definitely whether or not Pillory will go to Latonia for the big Special He is desirous of sending the son of Olambala and Hester Irynnc and is just awaiting word from Mr Wilson
