Ross Stable enjoyed a field day at Fort Erie this afternoon and accounted for three of the seven races. Hallucination started the days triple by beating a band of Canadian-breas In decisive style, while Lilt followed with a victory in the two-year-old race and Dia-dema crowned the day by defeating the best of the sprinters stabled at the track. The days program was given over to claiming races and the best of the afternoon was the fourth, which was a dash of five and a half furlongs. There was but little delay in dispatching the field in this race and Diadcma was away like a flach, setting a fast pace for her opponents to follow. Peter Piper and Dream of the Valley were the ones to attempt to keep up with the speedy daughter of Marathon, while the remainder of th3 field was closely bunched, with the exception of Despair, which began slowly and was soon outrun. Rounding the turn into the stretch Claver allowed Diadeina to draw away and she quickly increased her advantage, but was again taken under restraint through the final eighth. Elemental worked his way up through the Geld and took second place, while Despair came from a long way back and took the third portion of the purse from Buster. BREAKS TRACK RECORD. Lilt, which was a pronounced choice in the running of the ftiird race and had but little difficulty in accounting for it, and in doing so established a new track record, clipping one-fifth of a second from the old mark. Arendal was a good second, while Magic Reed was up in time to take the third portion of the purse. Claver restrained Lilt off th early pace established by Arendal, but rounding the elbow moved up with a rush and assuming the lead never left it in doubt. Hallucination in starting the triple outran his opponents from the start and was returned victor by the widest margin of the afternoon over Anaprisa, with Mother Bunch third. The final time was 1:01. Todays weather conditions were ideal and the crowd showed a vast increase over that of yesterday. The track was in fast condition and spirited racing prevailed. The public failed to center upon the different winners with any degree of accuracy, although several well-supported second choices were returned. The longest priced winner of the day was Sun Brae, a brother to Sun Briar, which led from start to finish and netted a return of 4.70 for the usual investment. A dash for maiden jockeys found II. Fowler graduating from the ranks on the Thorn-cliffe Stables Beljoy, which had a head margin over Musi to, while the latter beat Mumbo Jumbo by a neck. G. C.
