" BUTLER BILL KILLED LOUISIANA RACING SAFE NEW ORLEANS, La., July G. The Butler anti-racing bill was killed by the house of representatives this afternoon by a vote of 51 to 47. The meas-uso was advanced to third reading last night on the motion of Representative Fred Claiborne, author of the racing commission bill and a strong racing supporter. Mr. Claibornes motion, though It came in the nature of a surprise, is seen now to have been the result of a close poll of strength on the issue in the house. Seeing that they held the upper hand the racing adherents decided to dispose of the bill by a voto rather than kill it by continuing the filibuster. The final fight on the bill began this morning when the house came together for its last day. The legislature adjourns at midnight tonight for a period of two years and racing in Louisiana is considered safe for that period at least. v
