ST. ALWYNE GREAT BARGAIN Some of the English horses bought for sires by Australians have been notable bargains. Absurd at 5,000 is one instance. Yellow Hands sire, Rossendale, was another, and an even sharper case was that of St. Alwyne. Bought in England on behalf of W. and F. A. Moses for ?275, Poitrel, one of his sons, alone won them 31,600 in stakes, and they have received many thousands for St. Alwynes progeny. At the recent yearling sales at Randwick that sires colt from Pretty Vlody headed the list at ,500. When he was bought St. Alwyne Was five years old, and he is now twenty-three.
