1 JULY SALE AT NEWMARKET SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. LONDON, England, July 11. Spirited bidding marked the continuance of the Newmarket July sales on Monday. Foreign buyers were present and engaged in active bidding for the choicer offerings. A. K. Ma-comber made thirteen good purchases. The ten mares placed on sale to close the estate of the late Lord Manton brought an average return of ,750. Those which brought the highest returns are shown below: Pasta, br. m, 1912, by Thrush Signorinet-ta, by Chaleureux ; A. de Rothschild, 0,000. Queen Carbine, b. m, 1909, by Carbine Sceptre, by rcrsimmon ; A. K. Maeomber, 5,500. The seventeen offerings from the holding of the late Sir Ernest Cassel averaged ,590 and included the following : Scala, b. m, 1914, by Spearmint Astra, by Gallinule ; Lord Woolavington, 0,000. Lipa, b. m, 1911, by Lemberg Gadfly, by Hampton ; A- K. Maeomber, 0,500. Flying Squadron, b. m, 1916, by Light Brigade Gadfly, by Hampton ; J. W. Corri-gan, 1,500. Yokohama, b. m, 1911, by Santoi Spring Chicken, by Gallinule ; A. de Rothschild, 7,500. Two of the Cassel stallions were sold. Cylgad, bay, 1909, by Cyllene Gadfly, by Hampton, was sold to Baron Maurice de Rothschild for 2,500 and will be sent to France. Hapsburg, brown, 1911, by Desmond Altesse, by Amphion, was sold to C. L. Prior for ,500 and will remain in England. Rosedrop, chestnut mare, 1907, by St. Frus-quin Rosaline, by Trenton, and Biplane, bay mare, 1910, by Ayrshire Gravitation, by St. Simon, were bought for Walter J. Salmon o New York. Rosedrop has been bred to Somme Kiss and Biplane to Cylgad.
