WORK-OUTS BETWEEN RACES SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August 23. Between the races today there were several important moves and old Exterminator was sent along for a mile and a half in 2 :43 in preparation for the Cup. He raced to the mile in 1:49 and the mile and a quarter in 2 :15. The old fellow galloped as though ready for his engagement. Barbary Bush and Flagstaff Worked together a good three-quarters in 1:17, going to the quarter in 24 and the half in 49 in preparation for the Hopeful Stakes. Transom and Untidy, two other Hopeful candidates, worked three-quarters in 1 :19. Polyuria worked five-eighths in 1 :05 and Golden Rule galloped three-quarters in 1 :17, after running the first half in 49. William Garth permitted J. S. Cosdens Blazes to canter for a mile in 1 :49.
