Won ridden out; second and third driving. ALLIE OCHS took the lead at once and drew clear in the first quarter, but was taken back while rounding the last turn and, saving ground when entering the stretch, raced into the lead again and held it resolutely. BESSIE! LEIGHTON improved her position steadily while racing under slight restraint to the stretch and. finishing fast, would have won in another stride. HOMESTRETCH, in close quarters to the stretch, finished fastest of all. TEMPTRESS ran a good race. SCARE CROW quit in the final eighth. LADY ROSE displayed excellent early speed in racing into the lead, but ran out while rounding the last turn. HUGHIE quit early and tired badly. Won handily; second and third driving. CARMENCITA set a good pace from soon after the start and won all the way. LACKAWANNA raced in closest pursuit of the leader throughout and made a game challenge in the stretch, but tired finally. MAIZE finished fast on the inside and held third place safe. SERVICE STAR was forced to pull up in the first eigiith and closed a big gap. TING-A-LING began slowly and ran a bad race. RIGEL raced HUMBOLDT into defeat in the early running and drew away in the stretch, but was hard ridden at the finish to maintain his advantage. LITTLE CELT, close up from the start, was forced back when HUMBOLDT tired, then recovered quickly and came fast, but tired in the last seventy yards. ROCK BOTTOM gained steadily on the last turn, but met with interference in the stretch rush. FULLON closed a big gap. HUMBOLDT set a fast early pace, but tired in the final eighth; PURITY saved ground on the turns. BRAINSTORM followed the pacemakers closely under slight restraint to the stretch, then came with a rush when called on and, racing into a good lead, won going away. MAD HATTER followed the early leaders closely for the first half, then went to the front with a rush, but tired badly in the stretch. HEPHAISTOS was hard ridden for the entire race and finished gamely. IRISH BRIGADIER set a fast early pace and quit in the stretch. JOHN- PAUL JONES was forced to race wide all the way. CANYON raced In nearest pursuit all the way and responded gamely when called on, but could not quite overtake the leader. TRAJANUS- ran well and was easily best of the others. Won driving; second and third the same. SLEIVECONARD, well ridden, was taken back and saved until after entering the stretch, then closed up with a rush and outfinished LAST STRAW. The latter began forwardly and raced THE DICTATOR into defeat in the first half, then took the lead in the final eighth, hut could not withstand SLEIVECONARDS challenge. EMOTION moved up with a rush on the backstretch, hut met with interference on the last turn, then came again in the final eighth and outstayed THE DICTATOR in the final drive. The latter showed the most early speed, but tired. The first three at the start began three lengths in front of their opponents. Scratched 65563 Bees Wax, 100.
